Hello and thank you for giving my blog a read!
Academia aside, my true passion in life is music and what a true, passionate, ever-lasting love that is!
I am a (bedroom) musician that has a love for acoustic music. I wanted to create a blog to share my love with everyone and post reviews on the recent (and not so recent) music that I find and feel the need to talk about.
I have always been involved in music in one way or another basically since I was born. In fact, I strongly believe that I picked up most of my music taste from when my mother was pregnant with me and I was listening to Fleetwood Mac to The Smiths and everything in-between. I picked up my first guitar before I could write and I have never looked back since. And I’m pretty sure I started singing before I could talk. Okay, maybe that’s not true but it seems like it. Ever since I could vocally express myself, I’ve been walking around my house singing to my hearts content – always being called the ‘Songbird’ of the family (now the blog name is starting to make sense).
So through my parents’ music influences and the fact that I was a walking jukebox 98% of the time, it was pretty evident that I would eventually pick up an instrument and start using it. That instrument was the guitar. It started off electric guitars, as I wanted to be a ‘rock chick’ (influenced by Avril Lavigne – it was 2002 afterall), but it gradually moved on to acoustic. Ever since my first proper acoustic guitar, I have never looked back.
Growing up I was always involved in the music crowds, with friends in bands and going to gigs every weekend. If I’m being honest, I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I loved it. I love discovering new music, I love hearing people’s stories through the medium of music. There is nothing better in my opinion.
So music isn’t all I’m about. We’ve established I love music and I studied business, but there is a lot more to me. I’m a bit of a foodie. I love to eat and cook. One of my dreams is to open a Coffee House or Café. I’m also very much an animal person. I love to constantly study, especially psychology, philosophy, astrology and much more. I love photography. With a photographer father, I believe I have inherited a tiny bit of his talent, but I am what you would call an “iPhoneographer”. I love art. My mother is an incredible artist, so I may have inherited an even smaller bit of her talent… And I do believe I have rambled on about myself enough. Now I want to know about you! So please, feel free to follow my blog if you like what you’re reading, leave comments and chat with me (I have a Twitter account @Songbird_Blog where you can follow and chat too).
I hope you enjoying reading my scribbles from time to time. Peace out. xo
